  1. When did the H.P. Wright library close?
    The Wright Library officially closed at 8pm on Monday, November 30, 2009.
  2. Why did Wright library close?
    After the failure of the general tax measure (Measure A) on November 3, 2009, the City of Ventura determined it did not have the money to keep this library open.
  3. What will happen to my requests?
    Any materials currently requested that have been received at the Wright library will be transferred to the
    E.P. Foster Library in downtown Ventura.
  4. Will the collection still be available?
    During this period of consolidation, Wright Library materials will not be available in the library’s online catalog.
  5. Will there be storytimes?
    There will be storytimes at the
    Foster Library in downtown Ventura. Check the Library System website www.vencolibrary.org for more information.
  6. Where can I return my library items?
    There are two bookdrops at the Wright Library. Returned items can be dropped off at the Wright Library until January 31, 2010 or at any other Ventura County Library.
  7. Will I need to reregister as a patron of the Foster Library?
    No. Wright and Foster Libraries are both part of the Ventura County Library.
  8. Where is my new “home” library?
    Wright Library patrons will be reassigned to the Foster Library location. You may request that your home library be any of the other libraries in the Ventura County Library system that is most convenient for you.
