Hello again my name is David and I am a Library Tech at E.P. Foster Library and amateur photographer.
This is the story behind the photo.
This is a photo of the First Baptist Church of Ventura, it's currently a spiritual center.
The church was built in 1926 and renovated into this beautiful Mayan Revival-style building in 1932.
The building has been declared a cultural and historic landmark by the City of Ventura, deservedly so. It's particularly beautiful at sunrise and sunset.
Robert Stacy-Judd was the architect behind the design of this wonderful building. Robert Stacy-Judd also designed the Aztec Hotel on Route 66 in Monrovia, California. Very interesting man and we are so lucky to have a building that he designed in Ventura.
I struggled to find a book about Robert Stacy-Judd, perhaps a ZipBook is necessary. The ZipBook program allows customers to tell us what to buy, check it out!
For the younger readers, People of corn: a Mayan story is an interesting book.
Thank you and keep reading.
