Browsing the Library Shelves - Virtually

Photograph of library books on two shelves

There are many things we miss about our libraries. For many of us, it is the serendipity of finding the right book, at the right time, while browsing the shelves.

Shelf browsing is still a possibility but like many things we are doing these days, it is a virtual pursuit. Virtual shelf browsing is a feature of our catalog.

How do you browse virtually? Search the catalog for a book. Choose the book from the results and scroll to the bottom of the content information. You will see two browsing options:

1.) Library Thing, which allows browsing by:

  • Similar items
  • More by author
  • Similar authors
  • By tags
  • By genre
2.) Virtual Shelf Browser - Pictures of books you will find in our catalog. You may also select a list view.

Until we are back in the libraries again enjoy visiting our shelves virtually.
