At this OCOB Special Event, university faculty and friends discuss the themes of Susan Orlean’s The Library Book and the inside story of the 1986 fire that burned 400,000 books and damaged 700,000 more at the Los Angeles Public Library.
Panelists explore both the enduring importance of books in our digital age and how libraries provide much more than books.
Admission is free. This discussion of Susan Orlean's The Library Book is sponsored by California Lutheran University and the Ventura County Library.
Copies of the book are available at Ventura County Library branches, though it isn’t necessary to read the book to enjoy the discussion.
