Foster - A free early literacy educational workshop for parents and/or caregivers of children ages 0-5. Parents/caregivers will learn the six early literacy skills and the five practices children need to be reading-ready and how to extend stories into activities that the whole family will enjoy, including flannel boarding. Foster - Join OLLI presenter Bruce Collins as he explores this “American Master” from the onset of his career in 1924 with “Manhattan,” written with Lorenz Hart, through his Broadway triumphs of Pal Joey, and, with Oscar Hammerstein II, Oklahoma, South Pacific, and The Sound of Music. Using original cast recordings drawn from a collection of more than 200 CDs and featuring such performers as Bing Crosby, Ezio Pinza, Gertrude Lawrence, and Peggy Lee, the lecture will include such classics as “Blue Moon,” “Lover,” “Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered,” as well as “Some Enchanted Evening,” “Getting to Know You,” and ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone,” together with the stories behind their creations.
Foster - While some cultures seek happiness through success and materialistic possessions, others define happiness as being content and connected to one's family and community. Dr. Christy Teranishi Martinez will examine happiness and well-being from Eastern and Western perspectives. We will discuss strategies for alleviating stress and adding well years to your life.
Foster - New York Times bestselling author Captain Luis Carlos Montalván and his service dog, Tuesday, come to E.P. Foster Library to discuss the "war after the war," the human-animal bond, and their inspirational story of healing and hope.

Foster - Professor Chianese will speak at 6 p.m. before a film screening at 7. The featured film is the biography of Ron Kovic. Paralyzed in the Vietnam war, he becomes an anti-war and pro-human rights political activist after feeling betrayed by the country he fought for.
Foster - In this presentation, Craig B. Smith discusses his latest book, Counting the Days: POWs, Internees, and Stragglers from WWII in the Pacific. He tells the stories of six prisoners of war imprisoned by both sides during the conflict the Japanese called the "Pacific War."
Foster - A local bakery owner will be visiting the Topping Room to discuss great baking techniques.
