Foster - Join OLLI presenter Bruce Collins as he explores this “American Master” from the onset of his career in 1924 with “Manhattan,” written with Lorenz Hart, through his Broadway triumphs of Pal Joey, and, with Oscar Hammerstein II, Oklahoma, South Pacific, and The Sound of Music. Using original cast recordings drawn from a collection of more than 200 CDs and featuring such performers as Bing Crosby, Ezio Pinza, Gertrude Lawrence, and Peggy Lee, the lecture will include such classics as “Blue Moon,” “Lover,” “Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered,” as well as “Some Enchanted Evening,” “Getting to Know You,” and ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone,” together with the stories behind their creations.
