Prueter Library Art Contest for Kids, Ages 0-18

September is National Library Card Sign-Up Month! The staff of the Ray D. Prueter Library would like you to draw or paint or color (or a combination) a picture showing us how important your library is to you.

The pictures will be judged by age groups: 0-5 years old, 6-12 years old, & 13-18 years old.  There will be one (1) winner from each age group.

The three (3) winners will each receive a Barnes & Noble $15 gift card (thanks to the Friends of the Port Hueneme Library).  So stop by the Ray D. Prueter Library and pick up an Art Contest Entry Form. 

All Art Contest entries must be submitted on an official entry form and are to be returned to the Ray. D. Prueter Library.  Contest ends September 30, 2011.  Happy drawing!

Johnny Cash Tribute Sept. 10th at Simi Valley Library

Come to Simi Valley Library on Saturday, September 10th at 2pm to see Michael J's fun and educational tribute to music legend Johnny Cash.

Joining Michael is his singing partner and bass player, Leticia Blumette (June Carter).

This program showcases the music, roots and history of Johnny Cash spanning six decades from the 1950s thru 2003.

"In the Shadow of the Raven" at Simi Valley Library

In the Shadow of the Raven: the Life and Works of Edgar Allan Poe comes to Simi Valley Library on Saturday, July 9th at 2pm.

Duffy Hudson - actor, writer and filmmaker - becomes Edgar Allan Poe rising from the scene of his mysterious death to tell his life story.

A famous short story and several poems are also presented.

This program is ideal for middle school & high school students and adults.

Oak Park Library presents Oak Park History Night Part 2!

Wanted: historic photos of Oak Park, California. Do you have photos of historic Oak Park from the 1960s and 70s?  

Bring them to the Oak Park Library on Tuesday, July 12 from 7-8 pm to help us preserve Oak Park’s 45 year past for the library archives and for use in the upcoming book, Oak Park, California.  

Enjoy refreshments, learn about our community and see film clips of recent movies shot in Oak Park including: "Role Models", "Just Go With It" and "Faster".

The Big X at Simi Valley Library, Saturday, May 14

Come to the Simi Valley Library on Saturday May 14 at 2pm and enjoy the musical stylings of Xavier Montes in the Library Community Room.

Xavier  Montes, affectionately known as The Big X, for both his size and talents, is an accomplished harpist, guitarist and vocalist as well as an artist and educator.  He will be presenting a variety of music including Mexican folk songs.  His performance will be  entertaining for the whole family.
